Dr. Tal Pupko is a Full Professor of Bioinformatics and Molecular Evolution at Tel Aviv University, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. He completed his undergraduate studies in mathematics and biology before receiving his PhD from Tel Aviv University in 2001. He is an Associate Editor of the journal Molecular Biology and Evolution.
Dr. Pupko’s research spans bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular evolution, combining methods from machine learning, statistical inference, phylogenomics, and microbial pathogenesis. He has published over 150 papers, with a Google Scholar H-index of 64. His honors include the Hestrin Prize, the PNAS Cozzarelli Prize, and the Nature Research Award for Mentoring in Science.
