- Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Li Shen is Professor of Informatics in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics and Interim Director of the Informatics Division at the Perelman School of Medicine. She received her BS from Xi’an Jiao Tong University in 1993, her MS from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1996, and her PhD in computer science from Dartmouth College in 2004.
The Shen laboratory develops machine learning and statistical methods for imaging genomics, multi-omics integration, and biomedical AI, with particular focus on neurologic and neurodegenerative disease — including the AI-driven integration of brain imaging, genetics, and clinical data to define disease subtypes and predict outcomes. Her methods are widely adopted across consortia studying complex disease.
A Fellow of AIMBE, ACMI, and AMIA, Dr. Shen is one of Penn’s senior informatics leaders and a key collaborator across the Institute for Immunology and Immune Health and the Penn Colton Center for Autoimmunity. She brings advanced multi-modal data integration methodology to Penn’s expanding portfolio of autoimmune disease cohorts.
