- Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Laura Su is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the Perelman School of Medicine. She received her MD from NYU School of Medicine in 2003 and completed internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship training at Stanford University.
The Su laboratory applies HLA-tetramer–based single-cell technologies to track and characterize antigen-specific T cells in patients with autoimmune disease. Her work has defined how T cells recognize citrullinated self-antigens in rheumatoid arthritis and how antigen-specific T cell responses evolve in type 1 diabetes, providing mechanistic insight into how autoreactive repertoires emerge and persist.
Dr. Su is a Penn Colton Center FY26 pilot awardee and a senior collaborator within the Institute for Immunology and Immune Health. Her precision immunology platform anchors Penn’s growing capabilities in antigen-specific T cell analysis and is increasingly leveraged across the Colton Consortium for studies of autoreactive T cell biology.
