Dr. Karen B. Avraham is a Professor and Dean of the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University, where she holds the Drs. Sarah and Felix Dumont Chair for Research of Hearing Disorders. She heads the Laboratory of Neural and Sensory Genomics in the Department of Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, and is a member of the Sagol School of Neuroscience and the Safra Center for Bioinformatics. She serves on the Steering Committee of the Colton Center for Autoimmunity at Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Avraham’s research focuses on the discovery of disease genes and the development of models for therapy, with an emphasis on precision medicine. She was the founding director of both the Healthy Longevity Research Center and the Aufzien Family Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease at Tel Aviv University. Her laboratory is currently funded by the NIH, the Israel Science Foundation Breakthrough Research Grant, the Israel Precision Medicine Partnership Program, the Israel-US Binational Science Foundation, and the Ernest and Bonnie Beutler Research Program of Excellence in Genomic Medicine Award.
