  • Assistant Professor, Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Joel Babdor is an Assistant Professor of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He received his BS from the Université Paris-Est Créteil, his MS from Sorbonne Université, and his PhD from Université Paris, completing postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco from 2017 to 2022 in the field of immunity and the microbiome.

The Babdor laboratory — Precision Immunology and Microbiome Medicine — investigates how host-microbe interactions shape systemic immune set points and contribute to autoimmune and inflammatory disease. His group integrates high-dimensional immune profiling, microbial multi-omics, and single-cell approaches to define how microbiome composition and metabolites instruct immune cell function across health and disease.

Dr. Babdor is a recent recruit to Penn and an active member of the Penn Colton Center for Autoimmunity and the Institute for Immunology and Immune Health. He partners with clinical investigators across rheumatology, gastroenterology, and dermatology to advance microbiome-informed precision medicine for autoimmune disease.
