Dr. Eli Sprecher is a Full Professor of Dermatology at the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University, and CEO of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov). He earned his MD and PhD in Molecular Virology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his MBA from Tel Aviv University, and completed his dermatology residency at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and a postdoctoral fellowship in Human Genetics at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Sprecher previously served as Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Ichilov from 2008 to 2024, Deputy Director for Research and Development, and Director of the Center for Translational Genetics at the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the genetic basis of inherited skin diseases — including epidermolysis bullosa, ichthyosis, and palmoplantar keratoderma — integrating molecular genetics, 3D skin models, and small molecule screening to develop novel therapies. For the Colton Consortium, his group is investigating the epidermis as a novel therapeutic target in pemphigus vulgaris.
He has authored over 465 peer-reviewed publications, serves as Associate Editor of the American Journal of Human Genetics and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, and is a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
