Human Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry
Dr. Carmit Levy is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Genetics and Computational Medicine at the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University. She completed her PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and her postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute.
Dr. Levy’s research focuses on the tumor microenvironment, melanoma metastasis, cancer immunotherapy, pigmentation, DNA damage and repair, miRNA biology, and the systemic effects of UVB exposure on the brain and other organs. Her laboratory has published landmark studies in Cell, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, Molecular Cell, and Science Translational Medicine, among other leading journals.
She has secured over $10 million in competitive funding, including ERC Consolidator and Advanced Grants, and holds three patents for novel anti-cancer therapeutics. Her honors include the International Melanoma Research Award, the Mayent Rothschild Sabbatical Award, and the Dean’s and Rector’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
