Dr. Bella Ungar is a senior physician in the Department of Gastroenterology at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, affiliated with the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University. Her research focuses on inflammatory bowel diseases, with particular expertise in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She is a leading expert in therapeutic drug monitoring of biologic therapies — especially anti-TNF agents such as infliximab and adalimumab — and the study of anti-drug antibody formation and its clinical implications. Her work has contributed significantly to understanding the temporal evolution of immunogenicity and optimizing biologic treatment strategies in IBD.

Dr. Ungar has authored over 98 peer-reviewed publications in leading gastroenterology journals and collaborates extensively with national and international IBD research networks. Her research spans drug pharmacokinetics, gut microbiome signatures in Crohn’s disease, intestinal ultrasonography, and novel biomarkers for disease activity and treatment response.
